Five years ago, we unlocked the doors to Foundations Chiropractic for the very first time. Like many small business owners, we had a vision, a lot of excitement, and more than a few uncertainties. We believed deeply in the power of the nervous system and the body's ability to heal and adapt when given the right support, but we had no way of knowing what the next five years would bring. Looking back now, it's hard to put into words how much this journey has meant—not just to us, but to the hundreds of individuals and families who have become part of the Foundations Chiropractic story.
When we first opened, neurologically focused chiropractic care was a new concept for many people in our area. Conversations about nervous system regulation, vagal tone, stress physiology, and the connection between the brain and body weren't happening around dinner tables or on the sidelines of youth sporting events. Most people simply wanted relief from whatever challenge they were facing. Over time, however, something remarkable began to happen. Families started asking deeper questions. They wanted to understand why symptoms were happening in the first place. They wanted to know how stress affected their health, how development influenced behavior, and how the nervous system impacted everything from sleep and digestion to emotional regulation and immune function.
Those conversations became the foundation of what we do.
The last five years have brought incredible highs and some significant challenges. Building a business from the ground up is rarely a straight path. There were days when the future felt uncertain, days when growth came slower than we hoped, and days when we questioned whether our message was reaching the people who needed to hear it most. Like every small business, we faced obstacles, changing circumstances, and moments that required faith, perseverance, and a willingness to adapt.
Throughout it all, one thing remained constant: our faith.
When we first felt called to open Foundations Chiropractic, we believed God was leading us down a path that was bigger than ourselves. That didn't mean the road would be easy, and there were certainly times when we couldn't see what was around the next corner, and the natural response would have been fear or doubt.
Instead, we learned to trust.
We learned that faith isn't just believing when things are going well. Faith is continuing to move forward when you don't have all the answers. It's showing up every day, serving people well, and trusting that God will provide what is needed at the right time. Looking back, we can see His faithfulness woven throughout every chapter of this story. Time and time again, the right people walked through our doors, opportunities appeared when we needed them most, and doors opened that we never could have opened on our own solidifying our faith that this is the path that we have been called to follow.
There were seasons when we prayed for guidance, patience, and provision, and while the answers didn't always come in the timing we expected, they always came. Those experiences strengthened not only our practice but also our conviction that Foundations Chiropractic exists for a purpose far greater than simply running a business.
Because of that, we've never viewed this office as just a clinic. We view it as a calling. Every family who walks through our doors, every story we hear, every child we have the privilege of caring for, and every life touched along the way is a reminder of why God placed us here in the first place.
Every morning, families walked through our doors searching for answers. Parents came in exhausted from sleepless nights and behavioral struggles. Mothers arrived looking for support during pregnancy and postpartum. Adults shared stories of chronic stress, headaches, digestive issues, tension, fatigue, and feeling disconnected from the version of themselves they wanted to be. We listened to their stories, celebrated their victories, and supported them through setbacks. We have had the privilege to have served over 750 new people that have came through our doors.
When we reflect on the last five years, it isn't the growth of the practice that stands out most. It's the people. It's the child who finally started sleeping through the night after months of struggle. It's the family who found more peace and connection in their home. It's the mom who felt empowered throughout her pregnancy and birth journey. It's the child who reached developmental milestones that once seemed out of reach. It’s the kid that has been medication free when they were told they were stuck with a “diagnosis” for their entire life. It's the individual who regained energy, resilience, and hope after years of feeling stuck.
These stories don't belong to us. They belong to the families who showed up, trusted the process, and committed to making changes that supported their health and healing. We simply had the privilege of walking alongside them.
Perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been watching the culture of health begin to shift in our community. Over the last five years, we've seen more people embrace a proactive approach to their well-being. We've seen families become curious about how the nervous system influences health instead of waiting for symptoms to become crises. We've watched parents become advocates for their children's development, pregnant mothers prioritize their health before delivery, and individuals take ownership of habits that create long-term wellness rather than short-term fixes.
That shift matters.
A healthier community isn't built through one office, one doctor, or one intervention. It's built when people begin thinking differently about health. It's built when families understand that healing is not simply about removing symptoms but about improving function, adaptability, and resilience. It's built when parents teach those principles to their children and pass them on to the next generation.
As we celebrate five years, we find ourselves filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the families who trusted us when we were brand new. Gratitude for the friendships that have developed over the years. Gratitude for the opportunity to witness some of life's biggest milestones—from pregnancies and newborns to graduations, athletic achievements, and countless moments in between. Many of the people who first came to our office seeking care have become much more than practice members. They have become part of the Foundations family.
Five years feels both like a major milestone and the beginning of something even greater. The vision that inspired us to open our doors in the first place remains unchanged: Serving families with Christ as the FOUNDATION of our lives and chiropractic as the FOUNDATION of our health.
To every person who has trusted us with their care, referred a friend, attended a workshop, shared their story, or simply encouraged us along the way—thank you. Foundations Chiropractic would not be what it is today without you.
The last five years have been filled with growth, lessons, challenges, victories, and countless memories. We are honored to be part of this community, and we are excited to continue serving Chetek and the surrounding area for many years to come.
Here's to the first five years—and to all that lies ahead.
